Cristina Curreri of Scituate Salt Cave

After spending 20+ years in the fitness industry, managing sales, operations and training for big brands Cristina recently worked as the District Manager in Boston for YogaWorks, based out of Los Angeles. When the Pandemic prevented them from reopening their doors Cristina achieved her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate with YogaWorks and began teaching online but it was an unexpected trip to a Salt Cave that led her to open the Scituate Salt Cave. When you arrive at Scituate Salt Cave and step inside the caves you’re surrounded, floor to ceiling, by 30,000 pounds (that’s 15 tons!) of pure Himalayan salt sourced directly from Pakistan. You can enjoy an array of offerings such as zero gravity chairs, guided meditations, listen to the sounds of the Scituate ocean and more all while gaining the benefits of the anti-inflammatory properties of the salts.

Cristina tells us about her background and the story and journey that led her to opening the Scituate Salt Cave. She dives into her fitness journey talking through how she got into the industry and also talks about the process of getting her Yoga Teacher Training. We talk about what it was like transitioning to online teaching. Cristina dives into details about the Salt Cave explaining what it is and what led her to open one here in Scituate. She also talks about the logistics that go into opening a Salt Cave from sourcing the salt to building the caves. We discuss the benefits of salt therapy and how Cristina worked to educate herself in preparation of opening. We also talk through what steps she has taken from a business perspective in order to open doors — from concept to implementation and where she started.
